Yukio Watanabe 「Apple」
Watanabe currently lives in a care facility. Most of his works were made during his stay at Asaka Asunaro House, a care facility for people with disabilities. One of the signature works is these creature-like beings with four legs. This has been used for the logo of the creative project “unico” initiated by Asaka Aiiku care home. According to the artist, this is a “cat”. At times in one stroke, its legs and tail are drawn lively. When a handful of them are lined up and looking this way, its odd rhythm and comical nature captivate our attention.
“Ginza TAYA” is a Japanese tie brand established in 1905. The fine silk threads and their technique to weave various colors densely have made it possible to reproduce our artists’ works beautifully. With the TAYA’s technique, we make exquisite and sophisticated “Made in Japan” ties.
